Scales off
« on: March 11, 2019, 11:35:46 PM »
I have a scene that started off in CM and I converted to inches. I reset things (xform), but my Forest grass and gravel will not scale. I exported as a dwg and imported, but nothing seems to be working. HELP!

I have tried for three hours, but I can't get these to scale. They need to be inches, but one is MM and one is CM

Hi,

Using the surface like it's in the provided scene shouldn't lead to any scaling issues, but checking your scene, I've noticed that items used in the Forest012 are using the Global Scale 50% (attaching a screen-shot).

Please double check, you have the Respect System Units in Files option enabled in the System Unit Setup window and the Rescale the XRef Objects to the System Unit Scale option when importing presets.

Let me add, that on larger areas, you should be using presets that are meant to cover a large area(s). These will create fewer instances and are less taxing for the renderer. For both the Lawns and Meadows presets you will see there are two versions for each type, one with a (detail) suffix and another with a (large) suffix. Unless you're filling a small area, I'd pick the large ones.

Best regards,

I tried 50% to see if that worked. I usually leave it at 100%. Where is "Respect System Units in Files" at?

I always work in inches, however, at some point, the scene was converted to CM. I tried to globally scale the scene, but things like my windows go out into space; it's a mess. The grass is being read as MM and the gravel as CM... I don't know what's going on.

There has to be a solution to this. It seems only Forest is having issues. I have scaled in every way I know how to. Forest is reading the grass as millimeters and the gravel in centimeters, but MAX is showing it 100% scales. Any ideas?
