Forest Pack on a specific part of a Railclone
« on: November 26, 2025, 09:30:22 am »
Hi.

We would like to generate a Forest on a part of Railclone. In our case we would like to forest some greenery on a part of a balcony (see attachment).
As far as I know I have to disable "Use Instancing Engine" in RC and need UV-Mode in FP to generate items. (XY-mode is not working because of the "overlapping" surface seen from top-view)
Unfortunatly UV-mode doesn't support Face-ID limitation in Area-mode (Srf.Mat.ID).

The RC is a linear generator with one corner-element and 3 randomized default-elements (with compose-node grouped to one element).

I tried a workaround like the following:
I duplicated the RC and changed the elements to have just the faces needed for scattering, but the randomization is very restless and doesn't stay the same.
Is there a way to syc the randomization between two different railclones?

Please let me know if you can think of a better solution!
Thank you in advance.

best regards
Bernhard

Hi Bernhard,

Please double-check that you’re using the latest ForestPack release - we’ve made adjustments to this feature in recent versions, and in the latest release the Surface Area > Surf. Mat. ID option should work fine in the UV Surface mode.

Thanks in advance for any further comments on this issue you can share about it with us / our user community (in case some user(s) will run into similar troubles).

Best regards,

Thank you so much!

I have read that this feature is now avaliable, but somehow forgot about it.  ::)
I hope that without instancing my RAM is sufficent.
