Forest pack paint causing crash
« on: March 19, 2019, 06:01:55 AM »
hi,
i am trying to paint a forest on a surface and it works for a while and after that max crashes.
i am attaching a sample file.
the area is quite large and i have never previously faced this issue with such large areas.
splines seem to work without any issues but painting is way more convienient.
kindly let me know how to resolve this issue.
the issue happens when i try to paint the 2nd or third time
i am using 3dsmax 2014 and vray 3.4.01

Hi,

First let me mention, that as the uploaded scene has been saved in the FP 6.1.6, updating to the FP 6.1.7 would be highly recommendable. We've been testing it under several conditions, but we can't reproduce described troubles or any other "suspicious behavior". Would you mind to save and send us  the minidump file of the crash? Hopefully, it'll point to the problem source.

Thanks in advance for your collaboration, your feedback is very important to us.

Best regards,

HI,
i started having the problem in 6.17. and then downgraded to 6.1.6 to check and have since then reuped to 6.1.7.

the problem happens when i try to paint at the edges that is way from the the origin of the scene.

i will try to upload the minidump file.

Hi,

Thanks for the provided minidump. It’s being linked to numeric limits – the current Units Setup (the System Unit Scale is set currently to mm) and the size of the object (about 3 x 3 km = 3 000 000 x 3 000 000 mm) might lead to exceeding limits. Using the System Unit Scale which will match better to your actual project (like meters) would avoid this problem.

Hope that helps.

Best regards,
