Camera Clipping Not Working Forest Pack 7.1.2 and Redshift
« on: October 26, 2021, 04:46:30 AM »
Bumping this post and hoping it gets fixed soon too. We recently upgraded to FP 7.1.2 and use Redshift and quite often have heavily forested scenes. Is there an ETA on when this will be fixed as I'm told by one of our artists that the Render > Mode: Meshes fix doesn't work for Redshift.

Thanks!

If Camera clipping is not working with Redshift, this is a different issue from the original post, which is related to Arnold (each renderer uses a different way to work with Forest).

We must investigate it, because this issue has not been reported until now.
I will do some tests, and will write here as soon as we have more information.

Thanks,

Apologies - yes I should have made a separate post. Thank you for looking into this.

Not problem. I moved this issue to a separated thread, to track it more easily.

Regarding the issue, we have identified the problem: there is a wrong value in the implementation of Redshift with the Forest API. Although it was not important with FP6, this value is critical for FP7.
This must be solved by the Redshift team, so i just reported the problem to them.

Meanwhile, in Forest 7.2.1 beta, we have re-introduced the "Camera" parameter. It lets you to assing a Camera manually, instead to get the view settings automatically.
With a Camera assigned, clipping and the other features work fine in Redshift.

By the way, we have verified all renderers, and this problem happens also with Octane and FStorm.

Many thanks for looking into this and reporting to Redshift. Hopefully they can fix soon.
