Problem with XY vs UV distribution

I haven't run into this one before:  using UV distribution the forest objects are scattered fully on the surface object. In XY mode they will only cover a portion. Moving the surface around causes the forest objects to move and swim around a bit but will not get them to cover the surface. I have no idea how to fix it.  I need the XY mode so I can use exclusion areas.

Sorry - bad email on my account here so was missing notifications.

Here is a file. I cannot get the simple plane fully covered unless I use UV mode.  Also, if I rotate the plane towards the vertical the objects also disappear, even though I have slope culling turned off. I am sure this is just me doing something wrong - any input is appreciated.

Hi

Your ForestPack Object is rotated weirdly(seems like 35 degrees on X axis). You can rotate it back, or recreate from scratch.

This leads me straight into another issue though.  I want to use use one Forest to influence another ( creating clusters of objects of one type around individual objects of another type.) I know this can be done using Forest objects as areas to exclude distribution of another one, but this only seems to work in XY mode. It seems like I cannot have an XY surface that isn't flat and horizontal to the world axis, so how could I accomplish this sort of Forest interaction on a different shape?  As an example, scattering rain or water drops on a cylinder, where I might use multiple Forest objects and want one to exclude the other, or guide the other for placement?

Is this not possible unless I am using a flat surface object?
