pulse wave animation effect
« on: August 31, 2024, 01:38:19 AM »
Is there an effect that can simulate a pulse wave animation that grows outward in a ring shape and eventually settling back in their original state. I was playing with the bend by object effect and a animated expanding torus, but it uses the central point of the object not the actual geo.

I also tried a gradient ramp in the rotation map slot but they seem to just jitter randomly, not to do with the animated gradient ring.

Thanks

Hi,

To achieve this, you can use the Transform > Lean Out (Exclude) Effect, which utilizes the shape of an Exclude Area. Alternatively, if you prefer using a map, switch the Animation mode to Frame from Map and apply an animated Gradient Ramp map for the desired effect.

I hope that helps.

Hi, I couldn't get any of those to work. I am using Redshift. I am looking for a shockwave type effect. is that possible?

Thanks

I'm sorry to hear, you're still facing troubles with it. For Redshift, only the 'Animation > Follow Geometry' mode is supported, so using a Gradient Ramp map won't work in this case. However, the Effects feature, such as the 'Lean Out (Exclude)' effect, should work fine. I've attached a sample scene (240903_LeanOutEffect_ITOOSOFT.max) for your reference.

I hope that helps.

Thanks you for the file! However it didn't do what i was hoping for, I have attached a video simulated in tyflow of the kind of thing i'm after.

In this scenario, you can animate the shape's size to drive, for example, the Lean In Spline Direction Effect, adjusting the SplineDistance and ZAngle parameters accordingly. I've attached a sample scene to demonstrate this setup (240905_LeanInSplineDirectionEffect_ITOOSOFT.max). I hope that helps.

Ah yes Thanks! that a bit more like what i was going for. Would be nice if they could lean out rather than on their side. Maybe an effect for the future?

Thanks again

You’re welcome. Here is a modified version of the Effect that should better suit your scenario.
