random animation and octane render 3.xx
« on: October 13, 2016, 02:29:13 PM »
Hi,
It seems that random animation don't work with octane render 3.xx (perhaps other versions too).
Animation work fine, but I can't manage to have random offset animation at render time nor in octane viewport.
Vray render are ok .

Hi,

Well, that's a known actual limitation of some render engines (as the Octane renderer). As mentioned in our on-line reference guide: "Renderers that use our custom interface are not currently compatible with the Disabled, Random Sample, Random From Map, and Frame from Map animation modes. This limitation affects Corona, V-Ray RT, Octane, Thea, Moskito, and Arion. Currently Forest Pack returns only a pointer to the custom object in the scene and a transformation matrix, so all items are pure instances of the original geometry and animation will be treated as though it is Follow Geometry mode.

To improve this behaviour we should include new functions to our API, and then all 3rd party renderers update their Forest Pack implementation using the new interface. These changes are in our wish-list, and we hope can be done in future udpdates. We apologise for the inconvenience."

Best regards,
