Can't select forest object in 3ds max Design 2015
« on: July 11, 2014, 10:29:40 AM »
Hi

Many times I can't select forest objects in viewport. Only possible ways to select them is through outliner or scene explorer. Anyone have this issue ?

O course this is waste of time when I try to click several times in forest object and nothing happen :(

thanks
Tom

In Max 2015 Autodesk has introduced several changes in the Nitrous system, and one of the functions used in the points-cloud mode is broken. The bug is reported to Autodesk, but is not solved yet.
For this reason, we have included a workaround specifically for this version. Although it should work in most of cases (we have not detected problems in our tests), obviously it's failing for you.

Please, would you give us some details about your configuration ? (video card, version of drivers, etc.). I'm afraid we cannot do more until the bug is solved, but we'll try it.
I apologize by the inconveniences.

it happend on MSI GTX 560Ti and Zotac GTX 780 AMP with lastest drivers including beta.
...and of course nitrous DX11 for viewport.

This is lesson for the future - Don't use new max until it get at list two updates... ;)

In Forest 4.2.5 we have included some changes to fix the picking issue. If it doesn't work for you, try writing the following sentence in Maxscript and reload the scene:

NitrousGraphicsManager.HardwareHitTestEnabled = false
