Forest Pro - surface changing
« on: August 12, 2022, 02:46:32 PM »
Hello kind people :)

I would like to ask a simple question. Actually, I've been using FP for a quite long but never had a knack for some of the features :D

Anyway, my situation is something like this:

I have a huge area/ground/geometry patch with dozens of FP geometry scattered over it and now I have to tweak the ground (lower some elevations etc), but as I do it with the 3DS Max Freeform tools like Shift, Relax&Soften and Flatten, I can see that the FP instanced geometry is not following the new elevation tweaks. In any case, that means that I would have to create and re-apply new FP objects to the new topology tweaked ground (10-12 FP objects, plus adding exclude splines etc).

Is there a way to make the FP follow the geometry changes of the scattering surface?

Thanks a lot in advance :)

Regards,

Namik.

Hello Namik,

Just click on the Refresh button in the Surface rollout of one of the FP objects when you've finished editing the surface. All of the other FP objects will update too.

You can also have the Forest Objects update as you edit the surface by enabling the Auto option, but you may find it's a bit slower if the surface is very high-poly.

I hope that helps,

Paul
