ForestLOD and presets
« on: July 21, 2016, 04:25:24 PM »
Hi,
Is it possible to make a preset out of a ForestPack object which uses ForestLOD?
I prepared a few ForestLOD objects and used them in geometry rollout of a ForestPack object. Everything's working perfectly in the original file - all the LOD settings and so on.
However, when I save a preset and open it from a library in another file, it doesn't work. Geometry rollout shows the LODs, all the settings are fine, but it seems like no geometry gets imported (in the viewport there's only the ForestPack "F" icon, no preview; nothing in the render).  When I save a preset with regular geometry (no LODs), everything works fine.
Am I missing something or is there a limitation in the LODs when it comes to presets?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions :)

Hi,

Unfortunately that's the actual limitation of Library Browser - the imported Forest LOD object is not bringing also linked objects. We'll see what can be done to fix it.

Best regards,

Could this be causing an issue I am experiencing where when rendering through Backburner Mental Ray is taking at least 3 times as long (on the same machine - backburner setup through localhost). The render frame window becomes unresponsive, CPU usage is down at 11% and there are Mental Ray error messages of "zero user data found"?

Hi,

Please, try to reproduce the problem with a minimal scene and send us such scene to check it here. Thanks in advance.

Ok will do. Also of note is that I get the error 'Warning : Can't find object "Template" in the source scene' when selecting my LOD object in the library.
