Title: Forestpack updates only upon render
Post by: GF1991 on September 26, 2011, 08:17:53 AM
Hi,
i have problem with FP realtime update.
When i change the geometry, the scattered items only update after i start and stop render.
whats the catch??
Thanks

Can you reproduce the problem in a test scene using a basic object (as a teapot) ?
What type of change do you apply (geometry, moving, scaling, texture...) ?  What Forest version do you use ?

Hi,

i use the latest version.
the changes i apply are related to moving the base geometry in Z axis and/or changes to the geometry such as deleting polys etc.
the scatter will then appear as if the underlaying geometry hasnt changed.
when i hit render it renders correctly.
after i stop render, the FP objects has the right position and border corresponding with the changes i ve made.

Best Regards
Martin

Ok, i think i have found the problem: Forest uses an internal cache to store the meshes. When the base object is converted to an editable mesh/poly, the cache is not updated properly, it holds a reference to the original mesh... which doesn't longer exists.

To fix it, you must reset Max and reload the scene. Once done this, the changes in the mesh should be updated properly in Forest.

Please, confirm us if the workaround works for you, to be sure this is the problem. We will fix this issue for the next patch.

nope, unfortunatelly its not working :-//
i am emailing you the scene for inspection (no textures added to keep it small)
