Forest color not working
« on: January 24, 2016, 08:16:09 AM »
Had some trouble with forest color not randomizing leaves, not working at all. Using only simple vray colors.  Spent loads of time trying to get it working. Did not find solution here, unless I missed it. Shot me if im spiting out known info but forest color only works if the tree is part of a forest distribution and the original object is off screen, not on solo trees.

Hi, Forest Color doesn't work with stand-alone objects, only with items within a Forest distribution.
If you want to apply it on solo trees, i suggest to create them with a Forest object in "Custom Edit" mode, which allows to edit items individually.

The reason for this limitation is that each tree model must be analyzed to get the hierarchy of elements (leaves and so).
For efficiency reasons, this data is stored in a common cache within Forest. It's not available for objects not assigned in Forest->Geometry.

Awesome thanks for the info! I will give it a shot. For now I just made a forest object using a spline that has only one tree populating it, and seems to work fine.
