The binaries for Max 2013 are compatible with 2014. So, to install it just select Max 2013-64 bits in the setup program, and the folder of Max 2014.

Of course we will add Max 2014 to the installer for the next update, but we are waiting to have a bunch of changes/new features.

....when having an additional forest installlation (2013+2014) is it recommended to create an additional program files\itoosoft-directory?

It is not necessary, this folder is identical for all Max versions.

Matte/shadow maps (std / mr) are not working with mental ray and vray with current version of FP under Max 2014.Please take care of this isssue as well before new release.

Matte/shadow maps (std / mr) are not working with mental ray and vray with current version of FP under Max 2014.Please take care of this isssue as well before new release.

Please, would you detail what is the problem exactly ? We cannot find any difference between Max 2014 and previous versions about this issue. If possible, send us a test scene.

In VRay the Matte/Shadow doesn't work directly, it is necessary to enable "Matte object" and set "Alpha contribution" to -1, in the object's VRay properties.

Please check the two scenes attached.

In the first one after unchecking Consolidate Materials option, standard matte/shadow map is applied onto the forest. When rendered with scanline, the outcome is as desired.

In the second one, renderer is switched to mental ray and mr matte/shadow/reflection map is applied on to the forest. When rendered with mental ray, the forest is rendered out as textured. Is there any other setting required for fp? When I apply the map on any regular geometry I get the desired outcome but FP seems not to be working.

any advise is appreciated

Please, try applying the matte material to the Geometry->Material parameter, turn on the Consolidate checkbox and click "Reassign Material".

In this case the material cannot be applied directly to Forest, because the geometry shader for Mental Ray works in a different way.

Thank you, this method works fine.
I think it would be helpful for the users if this info is documented.

sorry I don't understand how to install to 2014.  When I try to install it only gives me 2013.  I copy the forestpack.dlo from the plugin directory of 2013.  Forest pack shows up on the create rollout.  But something is wrong, gives a Vray error at rendering time.

Is this the correct procedure?  just copy the dlo from 2013 to 2014?  What am I doing wrong thanks.

No, it's not necessary to copy the files manually.

Select "Max 2013 64 bit" in the setup program, but for the destination path (next screen) choose the folder where is installed your Max 2014. That's all.

Thanks, I don't remember it giving me the option to pick a directory.  I will look again.
