Title: ForestPro or Railclone for modelled roof tiles?
Post by: Richard Birket on September 02, 2011, 01:31:29 PM
We are in the process of modelling a set of simple houses. I am looking at ways to create actual roof tiles on the roof (these are UK style roof tiles, not the nice barrel clay tiles you see in a lot of mediterranean architecture, but it would be nice to quickly change the individual tiles as necessary). There are a number of scripts to help with this task, but I haven't found a good one yet. I then remembered ForestPro and Railclone. Which of these two plugins do you think would be better at filling a roof with rooftiles?

I attach an example roof profile.

Although RailClone is not a panelling tool, you would use it to create the rooftiles surfaces. In this way, you will get the benefits of the VRay/Mental Ray shaders, and the individual tile can be changed easily.

I've attached a sample scene (Max 2010).
