FP 'MISPLACED' ON DIFFERENT PC
« on: June 02, 2022, 03:08:53 PM »
Hello everyone,

I am working on a file from different computers using multiple FP scatters.
With one specific scatter on one pc it appears completely wrong, flying, misplaced, scaled or smth. Both computers have Forest Pro 7, I checked the settings and they are exactly the same.
I also tried to keep the same FP, deleting and adding from scratch the surfaces but nothing. I have to make a completely newe scatter, which doesnt make sense, since we will need to render from all computers and wont be working on the scene only from one.
Im attaching two screenshots.

Anyone have an idea how to solve it?

Thanks,
Margarita

Hi Margarita,

I'm sorry to hear, you're facing these troubles. As it's really hard to say, what's happening in your scene just from the provided screenshots - if possible, please feel free to send us your scene (ideally simplified and containing just this problematic object(s)) to check it here. Thanks in advance. Any additional info is welcome.

Best regards,

After tryinig 2 days, I finally found the issue.

The proxies that were used as scattering objects, after creating the FP they were grouped and hidden (only the proxies). For some reason, if I UNgroup them the FP comes back to the original scatter.!

Could it be a bug, or a function that im not aware of?

Thanks for looking into it so fast!

Hi Margarita,

Thanks for your swift reply. In recent versions, the way Forest Pack handles groups has been completely rewritten. In previous versions when using groups with random transforms, surface conforms, areas, or camera clipping then each member of that group was processed individually. Now, the whole group is now considered as a single object. That'll be most probably related to the mentioned problem. If you prefer the old behavior, you can simply switch between them using the new Keep Group Hierarchy option in the Geometry rollout.

Best regards,
