FP6 effects - Density by Map - Only 1 map channel?

I can only get the "Density by Map" effect to work on map channel 1. Even if I set the texture map and corresponding UVW Map modifier to map channel 2, it displays with the map channel 1 coordinates.

Bug/wish list item or am I missing something? Max 2019 sample file attached. Checkerboard only moves when i set the modifier to map channel 1 even though the texture is set to map channel 2.

Anything new about this? Seems as currently Areas->Surface Area->Distribution Map has the same problem (6.2.2) Had to rework complex material und UV assignments to push everything up one level ...  :-\
