FP7.0.9 performance issues on 3dsmax2022
-
Can confirm. Thank you.
-
3ds Max 2019 as well...MASSIVE performance issue. Makes it almost unusable - i.e. Click on Forest Toolbar to add a ForestObject -> Max freeze, selecting existing ForestObjects lasts nearly forever :(

To narrow the issue, would You please confirm that this is in Point-Cloud mode only, right ? At least that is happening with 2022 that we can confirm. We have not seen this in 2019 yet.
-
Can't confirm if it's in Point-Cloud only but i was using this mode - to find out if it's a specific FO all existing ForestObjects ( 3 ) were deleted one by one ( took almost 15 minutes! ), placing a new one was impossible: clicking on the Toolbar to place a new FO -> max freezes. Using Max 2019 & latest VRAY 5
Have to uninstall it - we've got to finish a project ASAP
-
Which exact FP version were You using ?
-
Sorry didn't see it's a 7.0.9 post - we're using was 7.0.7
I've tried it with 7.0.9. -> same issue

We have fixed collisions bug, which could have caused massive slowdowns. Please try it now.
FP7.0.9 performance issues on 3dsmax2022
Regarding Max 2022 we found that disabling "Improve Quality Progressively" solves menu slowdown, as reported by FStorm.

Hope this helps.

Would You please send (https://forum.itoosoft.com/faq/how-to-send-a-file-to-itoo-software/) us Your scene. We would like to troubleshoot it here.
-
thank you!
i've sent it via wetransfer to helpdesk@itoosoft.com - as mentioned the forestobject's used in that scene have been deleted - but the issue placing new forest pro objects still occures. After clicking FP - Icon on the Toolbar - Max freezes

Thank You for the file, suppenhuhn. In our tests it seems like scene is slow, ForestPack has nothing to do with it.
Opening this scene (not very large) takes more than 5 minutes. Even longer time is needed to open Material Editor.
Easy fix for this scene- merge all it's contents to new, empty, 3ds max scene. After doing that there is no problem creating FP items.
Hope this helps.
P.S.
Please create separate forum threads. As most of the times issues reported by different users are not related. It's easier for us to track the issues, and provide personalized help.
Also, users subscribed to their threads won't get false notifications.

Does this mean 3dsmax2022 is a problem? or is it just a temporary solution?
-
We still don't know. We are investigating the options.
Does that help for You?

Hi, thanks for your quick response! This is already a merged scene ;D so i don't know what could cause this issue. As you said this isn't a complex scene at all nor it's large ( was it 50mb ? ) . We're continue working on that project today afternoon with FP 6 and i'll give you a short Feedback if you will.

Material editor is not empty, so it is not just merged (or Your "empty" scene is not that empty).
Thanks in advance for any further comments on this issue you can share with us / our user community (in case some user(s) will run into similar troubles).

So we got a solution on this problem !! Sorry for the suspicion of forest pack for this issue - but unfortunately this issue appears right after upgrading to FP7 :o
Issue:
Extrem slow scene loading and (auto)saving, as well a poor overall performance + freezing when try to place a forest object into the scene. Also very large filesize without having heavy or complex meshes. Also merging into a new file without success.
Solution:
1. 3ds Max Preference Settings -> General Tab -> turned off Load Plugins when used ( had a little impact on the performance but still freezing when placing FP objects )
2. This script cleaning up the max-file solved the whole issue - our file was reduced from 57MB to 6MB. We found it at this post at the autodesk-forum : https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-max-forum/3ds-max-files-takes-a-long-time-to-open-save-autosave-and-close/m-p/7705377/highlight/true#M153489 (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-max-forum/3ds-max-files-takes-a-long-time-to-open-save-autosave-and-close/m-p/7705377/highlight/true#M153489)

Hello, put this script to script/startup and enjoy. All your scene will be much smaller ;-)
This script run everytime you open scene. No click to button need ;-)
edit: put on every workstation you have. Because if you merge file or xref all notetrack and anim layers is also merge to max.

cool, thanks 8)
