Small Scene Crashing/ Freezing and RAM skyrockets
« on: November 06, 2015, 02:27:18 AM »
The max scene is a small building with a F.P. lawn ( preset) and a few F.P. garden beds (all Point Cloud display)
There are a few railclone elements set to 'Box Display' but the scene in general is pretty minimal.

When the scene freezes , RAM used sky rockets from say 10GB up to the maximum i have (32GB)

One thing that triggers it is going from say top view to quad and then to perspective.

Any Clues? It's an intermittent problem but havn't found the differing factor.

Specs: i7-4930K, 32GB Ram, GTX 780

Hi,

I would suggest to try deactivate the Display - Viewport - Use DirectX acceleration option, to check if there is any improvement.

Anyway, would you mind to send us your scene to support@itoosoft.com to analyse it here? In case of big file size, please use a web sharing service as WeTransfer. Also please specify which 3ds Max / Forest Pack & RailClone / renderer releases are you using. Thanks in advance.

In case, the 3ds Max crashes, would you please save and send us the minidump file of the crash? (You can get the minidump clicking "View report details->View report contents", checking the path of the "3dsmax_minidump.dmp" file and making a copy of it, before closing the 3ds Max Error Report window).

Best regards,
