Longer renders on farm than workstation
« on: January 19, 2015, 04:58:42 PM »
Are studio just upgraded to max 2015, forest 4.3.6, vray2 2015. Are workstations "WS" and rendered farm "RF" are from boxx.  Forest works great on new scene at least for test but on a old scene its a different story.  If I render the scene without forest  WS are at 2min 20 sec and RF are at 1 min 50 sec.  But once I turn forest on the WS are at 2 min 50 sec and the RF are at 14 min.  I tried recreating the forest in the scene but same issue.  Any help would be great.

What is the hardware configuration for both types of computers ? How many CPU cores ?

Please, try rendering a test scene using a Forest object, and converting it to instances using Forest Tools. Does the problem persist ?

RF - Dual intel Xeon E5-2650v2 2.6ghz (Eight Core)
WS - Intel Core i7-3970X CPU @ 3.50ghz (6cores)

The forest object is pulling billboard trees from the library that come with the software.  The only differences we moved the library to the server and remapped the paths.  If I start with a new scene I do not have this problem.  Forest Tools doesn't seem to work for billboard trees

We ended up deleted all things forest in the file and recreated it.  Now everything is rendering fine.  I'm going to go open another 2014 project to see if I get the same issue.

Also, please check if Bitmap Pager is enabled in the scene. According to the ChaosGroup forum, it seems to be a common issue with VRay.
