Scatters too uniform almost on a grid
« on: February 23, 2023, 10:56:08 AM »
Hi,

Always had this issue but never really tried to solve it before.  Whenever I do a scatter, say of leaves on a road and I need quite a few leaves the scatter is too uniform within the distribution.  If I select patches 1 as the distribution image then I can see the leaves are varied around the edges but in the middle they are grid-like, I would expect some to be much closer and overlap.  Any ideas, I've attached an image below to hopefully explain in visual terms better.

Thanks

Have you tried to use Transform > Translation > x and y values ?

I tried that but afraid not.  It's strange because if I create a forest pack preset with leaves it displays how I would expect it to look with the leaves in the square at the top (see attached) yet if I create a new forest pack and add my own leaves then I get the grid.  I've gone through the settings and I can't see any difference.

You might find this excerpt from yesterday's live stream helpful - it mentions break up grid like distributions

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

Cheers!
