Materials on distributed geometry do not sync correctly

Hi,

i've been very skeptic about ForestPack having own material slot for materials on instanced objects. I think it should always use source material no matter what. While it was definitely irritating, it wasn't causing any problems. But it started to, recently...

I have one more complex scene, and i needed to update materials on the foliage geometry i am scattering. So I have assigned new materials to my source objects, but they did not get propagated to the Forest objects so some of my geometry objects still have randomly assigned old materials.

So now i have spent two hours tweaking materials just to realize that it was waste of time since ForestPack broke. What's the solution for this? I can't really imagine pain of going through every geometry objects in every of my forest object every single time i re-assign materials to source instances, and keep cross checking if stuff updated properly :(

Hi,

By default Forest uses the materials assigned in the Geometry List, but this is optional. If there are not materials assigned, Forest gets them from the source objects.
So if you prefer to use this workflow, just select all items in the List and click the Clear material button.

Hi,

By default Forest uses the materials assigned in the Geometry List, but this is optional. If there are not materials assigned, Forest gets them from the source objects.
So if you prefer to use this workflow, just select all items in the List and click the Clear material button.

I got a problem kinda related to this, so i don't think it's necessary to create another thread. I adapted a workflow of immediately clearing materials for all my forest objects, but the thing is that custom object button is very similar to material button, cause of the little clear button next to it. On several occasions already, I've accidentally clicked clear next to the Custom object, and this does not support undo. So every time i accidentally click this, i have to manually re-add all of the geometry objects again :(

Ok, thanks for reporting this problem. If possible, we'll add Undo support to the Clear buttons.
