Trees along a path
« on: February 16, 2012, 11:37:36 AM »
Hello Senor iToo,
I am a new user of Forest and Railclone and I have just installed the latest Forest 3.8 Pro in Max 2012 (64 bit, XP pro).
In my latest project I had problems with Forest making trees follow a path.  The forest geometry
would disapear when I changed viewports (minimised or maximised viewports), and I couldn't get it
back without selecting it from 'select from scene' in max.  I still have problems getting it to show up when
I select or modify an object in max.
I tried to replicate it in a simple scene without success (fresh scene, not merging).  I couldn't replicate the same problem
and has worked fine.  The only thing I can think of is that I have objects from Autocad imported into the scene, and/or that
I also have custom railclone objects in the scene.  Has anyone else had this problem?
As it was a smallish scene, I deleted the forest object and instanced trees to get around the problem.
Hopefully there is an explanation.  Cheers

Are you using Camera->Limit to Visibility ?

It would be that the trees are not visible because the camera's clipping. By default Forest assign dinamically the camera of the selected view, so it changes when you modify the active viewport.

Cheers mate.  My bad ;D.  It didn't click as the trees were on either side of the camera used for casting shadows and reflections.  The cameras visiblilty was 15%, and of course didn't show up!!!
Spent ages trying to find the problem ???.  It's like when something just doesn't work, and you forgot to tick the checkbox!!!!
Muchas gracias for your help and quick response.
