Scattering Objects between 2 surfaces?
« on: June 01, 2017, 12:59:09 PM »
Hi guys,

I am trying to figure out a way of using a surface as height limit for a forest pack object.

As you can see from the attachment, I  have got a base surface (green one) and a simple geometry (a box) , now I want these boxes to have all different heights, controlled by Surface B (the red one).

I could use a Zmap, but unfortunately the B surface is not flat either, and has a lot of little variation and it needs to be 100% precise.

Is there a way of doing it?

Thanks!

Just tried with the Zdept map, and it won t work as both surfaces are not flat.

Hi,

For this kind of tasks will be better to use the RailClone plug-in. A recommendable set-up would be to use two Generators - to build "bottom" & "top" parts separately. This way you can use two surfaces or combine it with splines (I've used splines for the bottom part). Attaching a sample scene. Hope you'll find it useful.

Best regards,
