Isolate display trees in viewport, is it possible?
« on: March 11, 2015, 09:19:35 PM »
isolate display trees, is it possible?

Is it possible to hide some trees in custom edit mode or Generate mode in viewport (or just custom edit mode)?
I want to find some good camera positions and angles in a big forest object. I don't need to see the whole forest in viewport. I just want to isolate display some trees that near the cameras in mesh mode or dense point cloud mode.
The viewports are so lag because of showing the whole forest. I wouldn't like to split the forest for the performance of the viewports.

Hi,

For these purposes, adjust the Far clipping plane value under Camera - Area - Limit to visibility. Also it's possible to simplify (or hide) the rest of distribution with a very handy tool - Forest LOD having the Update on Viewport option selected. Hope that helps.

Kind regards,

I know these methods you told me.
The camera option such as " Camera - Area - Limit to visibility" in Forest Pro pack will cause more lags of viewport performance when I try to move the main camera.

But I hope I can hide trees specifically. For example, I want to hide or isolate the trees which I selected accurately in custom edit mode. The hidden trees do not depend on  the Camera movements.  I hope you will add this feature in the next update.

And I hope you can add a new proxy display mode --- Bounding box mode .
