How would you achieve this?
« on: February 23, 2023, 04:11:22 PM »
Hi all,

I'm looking at producing CGI's for our landscaping team, but I'm struggling a bit with the (apparent) enormity of the task!

I've got a planting layout, and there are so many areas that have different mixes of plants in that I am not quite sure how to go about it. For example one area might have Aucuba Japonica and Cornus Sanguinea... and another area elsewhere will have Aucuba Japonica and Calamagrostis... and another area will have something else mixed in, and so on. You can see how complex this will get with dozens and dozens of species combinations.

I've attached an excerpt from the drawing to show what I'm talking about.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi,

The commendable workflow would be to handle these items in individual Spline Areas and use the Select models feature to pick corresponding species for such an area. Optionally, you can assign different Material IDs to these parts and use the Areas > Surf Mat ID for these purposes, but that would require multiple Forest objects,

I hope that helps.

Best regards,

This is the answer! Thank you.

I'd considered this, but for reasons beyond me I'd convinced myself it wasn't feasible. No idea why.

Thank you!
