Title: IMPORT ITOO FOREST PROBLEM
Post by: DS3970 on March 31, 2015, 08:19:34 PM
I created a field with two types of gravel using the technique of painting with brush on a geometry, this "Location" will be used in several different MAX projects in which I have animated characters on proxy locations previously performed. But ... when I import my Location, and move it intended to coincide with the proxy location, gravel applied with the brush is deformed, cut or moved. How I can fix this?

Hi,

Your problem is most probably related to moving your Surface Area (the base for Paint Area) from it's origin. Before moving it, I would suggest you to link (Select and Link) your Forest object to the surface. When linked, your Forest object will move with your surface to its final position and maintain your Paint Area(s) in correct place (as you can see on attached screenshots). Hope that helps.

Kind regards,

Hello.
Thanks for the reply but ...
 linking forest area subject to surface only works until I saved the MAX file ... just after the paint area moves and everything breaks its position relative to the surface area ... as you can see in the screen shoot ... I appreciate the help to solve this problem.

Hi, please try this:

1) Import Forest and the Surface in your scene.
2) Move both to the desired location.
3) From Forest, click Surface->Update button (besides the Auto checkbox).
4) Click Display->Build->Update.

Does it solve the problem ?

Indeed in this way the problem is solved .. but after several tests I've realized that it's just a preview level problem because when you render the result is correct.

thank you.

That has sense. The preview is not correct until Forest object is rebuilt, which occurs both clicking Display->Update or rendering the scene.
