Import
« on: May 02, 2025, 04:37:54 pm »
I have a MAX scene with trees, bushes, and grass. When I import that Forest Pro element, and all its assets, into another scene, it doesn't work.  It acts like it can't find the geometry, so I re-attch, and it still doesn't work.

Hi Bobby,

You can use the 'Select Influences' option in the Merge window — this way, you can add all components of the Forest object simply by selecting the desired Forest object(s).

Just to mention, there's an option to select all dependencies of a ForestPack object, which is useful in these cases. You can find it in the quad menu by selecting the FP object, then right-clicking and choosing 'Select All Forest Dependencies'. This makes it easier to safely merge everything into another scene.

I hope that helps.

Thank you for the reply. Everything is merging fine, but it doesn't render. I see the reference geometry being displayed, but it is really small.

I was hoping to get an answer since it is causing a mess in my workflow. Here is a screenshot. You see my plants, and I apply the Forest Pro to the plane, just like the plane I have in the master file. It is scattering little tiny versions of the trees. The only thing I changed is a different plane.

When I create a new Forest I can only start with a library and change the geometry it uses. Starting from scratch doesn't work at all.

I'm sorry to hear that you're still facing trouble with it. In such a case, please double-check that the Forest object & surface(s) scale is set to 100% on all axes. When using any "scaled surface(s)," Forest inherits its scale (and that's not always desirable).

In case of any further troubles with it, as it's really hard to say what's happening exactly in your scene just from the provided image, if possible, please feel free to send us your scene (ideally simplified and containing just this problematic object(s)) to helpdesk@itoosoft.com to check it here. Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
