Title: Is it possible to have one 'species' per surface?
Post by: BI1654 on March 11, 2014, 11:16:21 AM
Im using forest to scatter a selection of plants in many different trays/pots
But each tray can only have one species, is this possible?

Hopefully I dont need a separate Forest for each one !

Hi,

You can choose for any distribution area just models you want to use instead scattering all of them.

By default Forest Pack is using all models you have in Geometry tab with corresponding Probability. But if you go under Areas tab to Plants - check Select models and in Pick window you can choose which models will be used for scattering in selected area.

Please check attached screenshots ...

Hope this help you ;)

Is there any way to randomize this process by the way?
Now I have 708 different areas/surfaces and I sure as hell dont want to manually assign the plants for each one :)

There are many ways how to get the result you want.

In your case I´ll attach all areas to one object. Then using Selection - By Random detach the selection in to the unique object / distribution area. You should aim to have the same number of object as vegetation species. Then assign each type of vegetation to this newly created areas.

Hope it´ll help you.
