Trouble with velocity
« on: January 03, 2023, 03:45:07 PM »
Hello,

I'm working on a project  where all the actions is around a train, a moving train.
In lot of cases, the action take place inside, and the easiest way to do this is simply animate the landscape (and view it across the windows).
And for more flexibity, the motion blur must be made in post production.

And I have some troubles with velocity pass.
On animated ground, there is nothing in my velocity pass (using vray).
I've linked my forest to my animated ground and the result is very curious. The linear velocity works fine but there is nothing in rotation !

Please Help us.

Thank you

Hi,

First, let me mention, that because of how the distribution is being calculated in the Distribution > Image Mode, switching to the Custom Edit Mode would be highly recommendable for these purposes. Also, using the Automatic Render Mode would give “instanced results“ – instead the Meshes mode will do the trick in this case, just take in mind, that it comes with a significant performance hit in case of large distributions. Please find attached the modified scene (230105_VelocityTrouble_iToo.max).

I hope that helps.

Best regards,
