Title: License problems
Post by: Richard Birket on August 09, 2010, 07:56:01 PM
We have one license of ForestPro. This should be fine for us as it isn't used all the time and when it is, only one machine accesses it.

However, if a colleague opens a scene with an XREF in it that includes ForestPro objects, it looks that license so that somebody who actually wants to use ForestPro can't without the XREF files being closed down.

This is no good for our workflow as different people need access to different files at different times. Merely opening a file should not use up a license. Only editing an FP object should use a license.

Can you let me know how this can be resolved please?

In the current version of Forest Pro, a license is required to open any scene that includes Forest objects.

We are modifying the licensing system to do it less intrusive, so you can work with the scenes, requiring the license only to edit and render the Forest objects. These changes will be available in the next beta releases.

Until then, if you are using Network licenses and want to avoid that some workstations hold the available licenses, you can change the license mode of these computers from Network to Stand-alone.

Sorry, at this moment we cannot estimate a release date. But i think that all changes required for the licensing system will not be ready in less than one month.
