Optimising Materials of Library Objects
« on: September 17, 2012, 12:58:30 PM »
Hi there,

I am using my own library for distribution for the first time, I have populated it with over 50 trees and plants. But after building my first forest pack I notice I can't run Optimize materials. I have tried loading in an override material in the library but that doesn't help either. How do I apply this? I can't see how I can apply it in the library master file as there is not forest pack in there..

The main purpose of running the optimise is to get tint by element working, I realise I can re-apply scene materials to the forest pack but I am concerned that all my changes will get written off if the library re-writes it on open.

The Material Optimizer is designed to work on a Forest Object, not in a material library. You would apply each material to Forest, optimize and then save to it the library, but unfortunately there is not a tool to automatize this process.

okay that's not at all ideal, hope you can slate that for a future release.
