light cache taking forever
« on: January 12, 2022, 02:05:48 PM »
Hi

I am having problem with one of the scenes. Ligh case calculation is taking forever and I need to kill max. I do have 10 FP in my scene and without them. Can new vray sss instead of double side material be an issue? vray 5.1, latest FP

In these cases it's very hard to diagnose the issue without seeing the scene. If you can reproduce the problem in a minimal scene and send it to helpdesk@itoosoft.com we'll happily take a look.

Many thanks,

Tahnk you for reply Paul. It is working fine on the small scene. What it typical reason that LC pass might take long time to calculate with FP?

It's hard to say. One way to check that it's a Forest Pack issue (rather than something shader related) is to test the scene again, but use Forest Tools to instantiate the scattered items to instances first. If the problem still exists they we can rule out a FP problem and check for other issues in the scene.

If you're able to, it might also be worth updating to V-Ray 5.2 to see if that helps.

Best,
Paul

Thank you Paul. I went one by one FP object and this seems to be problematic ones. It is grass that contain two grass patches each.  It was rendering fine on close ups views but on aerial view it failed. I will decrease density and see if that helps.
