1) It's always a good idea to include the version of the software/plugins you are using... as not everyone will be using the same version of Max / FP
2) Why have you not included the FP part of the scene, just the model of the tree. Perhaps if you included the Forest Pack part as well, that would be helpful

Quick note: If you are going to model something that is this large, I suggest you don't use mm as your units. This thing is a little over 35m tall so I would suggest using metres or at the least cm. Always model stuff to proper scale, it has a huge effect on a scenes lighting

Hi,

For this scenario, the UV mode will suit probably better. Let me mention, that as distributing non-geometric objects isn't supported, a possible work-flow for these cases would be to convert the Forest object (or its copy) to instances with help of the Forest Tools utility (toindividual instanced objects) and than clone your light object with 3ds Max's Clone and Align tool or use the "light material" as shown on this related post. Hope that helps.

Best regards,

Hi,
Sorry FC1888 for the inconvinience
"1) It's always a good idea to include the version of the software/plugins you are using... as not everyone will be using the same version of Max / FP"
yes i should have included the version of the software/plugins--- my bad

"2) Why have you not included the FP part of the scene, just the model of the tree. Perhaps if you included the Forest Pack part as well, that would be helpful"
i have not included the FP part because i can use anything according to the client like a small lighted sphere or a lighted box etc. not yet fixed from the client, so i just wanted to get an initial idea of distributing the objects
Also i am going to use feets as units and this was just a sample model send by the client which i just forwarded, again sorry my bad that i didnt convert the units and scale the model to the right size.

also Michal Karmazín i wil give it a try with what you said but to be more clear i just want to distribute the objects on the outer surface of the mesh and not inside.
so if youhave any other too or in that case if anyone else also has any other simpler idea it willbe of great help

thanks again to all for the help

looking forward for more solutions as well
