Create forest from existing placed geometry?
« on: June 04, 2012, 10:12:03 PM »
This may be a bit of an odd question, but I have an asphalt parking area with a sloped drive, and cars already placed (complex meshes, and quite a few cars). What I would like to do is to turn what I already have into a forest, so I can take advantage of the proxy and camera visibility settings.

Any way to accomplish this? I'm having a bit of an issue creating a forest from scratch and arranging the cars properly on the drive so all 4 wheels are touching

thanks

That is exactly what does Tree Editor->Creation Tools->Reference Objects. In this case, you should to use the reference by Pivot Point:

Thanks, that seemed to work (for the most part). Some of the cars were oddly oriented, but easy enough to fix.
