Map to Drive Threshold
« on: May 19, 2016, 02:20:11 AM »
Hello.
I am trying to create a crowd at a large outdoor event.  I have painted a black/white map of where I want more dense crowd vs. less dense.  Unfortunately I can't seem to find anywhere to put the map in to get the effect I want.  I tried it as a distribution map but then it is solid until it hits the threshold and then there is nothing beyond that point.

What I would like to be able to do is use my map to drive the threshold and still retain the stock distribution maps.  Unfortunately I don't think that is possible at this time.  Any workarounds?

Thanks!

Hi,

Well, Forest Pack can use just one map to drive the distribution, but for scenarios like yours, it's possible to use a Composite map workaround commented in following "using map as an area" post:

"In this case it would be necessary two maps: one for mask and other for distribution. Although Forest cannot use more than one map, it can be done combining mask and distribution with a Composite map, using it as Distribution Map -> Map. In case that you need a custom map by area, just assign it to Areas -> Distribution Map."

That will do the trick.

Best regards,
