Linked Xref scene bug
« on: May 12, 2016, 03:48:56 PM »
Hello,

just dropping in to report a bug which I would like to have fixed at best yesterday ;) To reproduce:

  • in a new scene create a forest object
  • scatter some stuff
  • save scene as File2_Xref.max
  • create another scene
  • create a dummy object
  • xref scene File2_Xref.max saved at (3)
  • link File2_Xref.max to the dummy ("Bind" in xref scenes dialogue)
  • rotate dummy

The result is wrong scattering, wrong boundary checks (see screenshots). Moving the dummy is ok but as soon as there is some rotation on the dummy it´s buggy.

Good Luck

Hi,

Similar behaviour may appear in some specific situations (like after saving the "master" scene) when using Surface Area(s) and the Forest object in XReffed scene doesn't update surface data automatically - the Auto (Update surface data automatically) isn't enabled. It's generally not recommendable to enable it on large scenes, as it may affect the performance. The distribution preview may in some situations appear wrong, but it should render correctly (and once rebuild, the view-port will be updated too). Please feel free to check attached sample scenes.

In case the problem persist on your side even during the rendering, would you mind to send us such scene(s)? Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Hello Michal,

thanks for looking into this. But yes, it even renders like displayed and I was able to reproduce it with your scene (after evaluating differences) using a simple custom object (box) instead of a template as you did - see screenshot. I just made the rectangles renderable so that they can be seen in the frame buffer.

Could you try this? If you are still not able to reproduce I could of course attach my simplified scene where the screenshot in the OP was made of.

Thanks again for your effort. It´s impossible for us to assemble large scale scenes where every part has it´s own coordinate system right now.

Good Luck

Hi,

Sorry for my late reply. We're doing some additional testing (also with the officially released Corona 1.4). Would you mind to send us such scene? Big thanks for your collaboration.

Best regards,

Hi, i can confirm the problem with your scene. The bug is visible only if the pivot of the custom object is not centered.
We are investigating it. I will post here as soon as we isolate the problem.

Apologies for any inconvenience.
