Redshift Material Library

Is there plans to make a Redshift material library for when we use this with Redshift?

Hi, sincereley it's not in our inmediate plans to create a Redshift library. But we'll considere it, if there are more users interested.
First we should get some experience with the renderer, or locate someone that could create the materials for us. We'll see.

Thanks for your suggestion.

No, sorry. Currently we have not plans to create Redshift materials.

Hi, It's been a year so I wanted to see if you guys are now looking at making the library for Redshift since it is now the largest GPU renderer.

As mentioned in the beginning, it all depends on how many users request it. Also Vray and Corona are the two major players at present and while redshift may be the largest GPU renderer, I think if you look around the forums here, you won't see a lot of members talking about it and certainly not very many requesting a Forest Pack material library for it. As you can imagine, adding such to Forest Pack, would be a lot of work and unless you have a significant number of folk requesting such a library, it's not really a worthwhile venture... but since you seem to be the only one I have seen asking for this, I am not sure you will be seeing any progress on it in the near future.. I could be wrong but I imagine they have plenty of more important things to work on at the moment.. but good luck

No changes in our plans, sorry.
Also take in account that to difference of V-Ray/Corona, our team is not skilled in Redshift (we just made some tests to check compatibility). We should outsource the work, which makes it a bit more difficult.

Hi,

Big Redshift user here - in light of 'no plans' is there a way to allow users to do their own custom libraries.

At the moment, I'm having to convert materials each time - is there a way to permanently save a variation, at least that way it will save Itoo having to worry about Redshift and just make it a general custom library up to the users?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Sure, that's possible. I would suggest to check our "Creating Libraries" tutorial covering related "libraries" topic in detail - you might find specially the "Managing Materials" part helpful. Building the .mat library and using the Override Material option (the <matlib></matlib> tag within the index.xml file) would be the recommendable way.

Hope that helps.

Best regards,

Seems unlikely, but I'm hoping this will happen as well.
I've manually done it myself for some of the assets I use most often but it would be great if they wee already there as an option.
