Use Animation from Custom Object
« on: August 16, 2011, 10:48:24 AM »
Is there a way to use the animation of an animated custom object?

If so it would be great to use so custom random offset for it to. So you could grow different Buildings/trees etc. randomly.

Thx in advance

Yes, you can assign animated objects or proxies directly to Forest. The animation properties, including random offsets are defined here:

Thx for the fast response. I'm trying to use an animation of a scaled building/tree (from frame 0 = scale 0 to frame 20 = scale 100). But it seems that nothing is happening. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Does it work with a test scene ? What are your settings in the Forest animation parameters ?

If you can send us the file, we will take a look to it.

No, sadly it doesn't even work with a test scene. It seems that Forrest doesn't recognize a scaleanimation. But it worked with a workaround. Ive tried to use a modifier (because of the tutorial you send me). So I've used a simple FFD and animated it. And now it works.  :D

Yes, you must apply some modification to the geometry. The changes on position, rotation and scale are not recognized because some limitations in the mode that Max handle them.
