Procedural cafe - Help with placement/alignment
« on: May 31, 2011, 06:05:58 AM »
This is using beta features, but it's still a general question which is why I post it here rather than the beta forum.

I'm placing the tables and chairs by using FP to scatter these "spawners" around. Because of the new UV alignment option for surfaces, this should work:

Now here it is with the chairs - they're nicely centered but not aligned. Is there a feature i'm missing?:

And here it is with the tables - not centered or aligned which is a bit weird:

And here's the final result with the people and chairs in the right places, but not aligned to the spawner UV's (rotation), and the off-center tables:

Probably the UV Surface would not be enough precise for this work, and it doesn't align the items with the UV coordinates. It is much better to use Tree Editor->Creation Tools->Reference objects (using Pivot or Face Centers), to place the items at the exact position and alignment.
