Distribution Map for instance placement
« on: April 22, 2014, 07:06:16 PM »
Hi!
Sorry for the very noob question... but... in forest pack pro is it possible to control areas where to place objects using a black and white image? In alternative to "spline include"? I dont' find where to place the map :)

Thank you!

Ps.
Ah! Mesh surface has obviously corret UV for texture unwrap.

Yes, you can assign a texture map at Distribution->Image->Map. It uses the UV coordinates of the surface.

I've had this question for a long time.
With the map you don't get a distribution map choice.
The spline acts as a mask of the distribution map.
how can i have a map act as a mask?

In this case it would be necessary two maps: one for mask and other for distribution.
Although Forest cannot use more than one map, it can be done combining mask and distribution with a "Composite" texture, using it as Distribution->Map. In case that you need a custom map by area, just assign it to Areas->Override Dist.Map.

I hope that helps.
