text on grass
« on: April 03, 2013, 12:51:02 AM »
I'm looking for a way to create text on grass. I need to create NFL game field with logos and yard numbers. Is there anyway to do that?

Yes, there are couple of methods to do it:

1) Using a custom map in Forest Color. The procedure is described here: http://www.itoosoft.com/forum/index.php?topic=985.msg3356#msg3356

Tip: to get the maximum effect of the map on the grass, set the initial map color (in Forest Color) to pure white.

2) Create a grass element in the Geometry List for each one of the colors, get the logo in vectorial format, convert it to splines and use them to create separates Areas in Forest. For each area, you can choose the colored element using Plant->Select Models.

The drawback of the second method, is that you should use individual blades to get a sharp edge. If you have plans to create the full field, that will be generate a huge number of elements. So probably would be necessary to combine clumps with individual blades (there are several posts about this technique).

I suggest option 1 in this case.
