Forest over RC object?
« on: November 29, 2011, 09:43:27 PM »
Not sure if it's the right forum, because involves Forest and RC. Just move if it's in the wrong place.

I'm facing a big project with a large road involved, so would be interesting to use RC to create it. The road is composed in this way:

2 lanes (9m) - green zone (17.5m) - 4 lanes (14m) - green zone (12.5m) - 2 lanes (9m)

so my question is: There's any way of using the results of RC as surface to place forest objects?

Regards

Yes, it can be done:

- Use a separate RC object to create the surface of the green zones, set "Display->Viewport" to "Mesh" and turn off "Display->Render->VRay/Mental Ray shader". In this way, you get a mesh which can be used as Surface in Forest. Since only is needed a planar surface, the total number of faces should not be too high.

- For the rest of the road, use one o more RC objects with the default render mode, to get the benefits of the render shader.
