Random Tint with Custom Object
« on: October 04, 2012, 03:45:32 PM »
Hi, one problem I have:
I'm distributing trees using Custom Object mode, on order to place them where I want.
Now I'd like to give all trees random tint, but it only works with the "Element Variation" in the material override.
What happens then is that every leaf gets tinted differently, which results in color noise, because the leafs are too small.
If I use "Item Variation", or the global Color Tint option in the Forest material rollout, all trees are tinted, but not randomly per item. They all have the same same random color, where I would want them to have different random colors, per item.

This is a typical issue when creating copies of a same item in Custom Edit mode, because the random seed value is copied as well.

To generate new seed values: just select all items and click "Re-Seed" in the Transform rollout.
