Edge mode, how does it work & is this possible...
« on: June 14, 2016, 01:58:30 PM »
Hey guys, I know the edge mode is used for creating grass edges (and it does a wonderful job too) but I'm trying to use it to create a "cut" edge of a load of bushes, as if they've just been trimmed to fit an area. Is this possible?

I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that any elements falling outside of the area would simply be discarded/deleted/not rendered? It doesn't appear to be doing this - though it's just occurred to me that it is because I'm using a vray proxy object rather than a mesh?

Ignore this - it wasn't working because I was using a proxy, not a mesh.

Actually, in doing this I've come across a very strange phenomenon...

The edge mode appears to chop out the correct geometry, but rather than rendering what's behind it, it renders the vray sky, as if it were seeing off into infinity. I've attached two images, one showing the base beneath the forest object, and the other how it renders. Apologies for my childlike scrawl.

Please, try increasing transparency limit, as described here.
