Restrict Forest Pro instances to Sub material?
« on: June 11, 2011, 05:25:36 PM »
I think this may be an easy question.  I have a mesh with a Multi/Sub object material applied.  I want to apply Forest Pro to that mesh but only have the forest pro plant instances be on the sub material with ID #6.  Is this possible?

Why not apply a material modifier with ID 6 to the mesh before using it on Forest ?  (or create a copy of the mesh if you don't want to modify the original object).

Thanks for the reply. I am new to the plugin. So can i tell Forest Pro to only apply plants to the mesh on faces that have a material ID 6?  I am sure this is staring me in the face but i cannot figure it out.

Please, forget my last reply, i misunderstood your question.

Unfortunately, there is not any option to use Forest on specific faces of the surface. You should to create a separate mesh with the faces of material ID 6, and use it on Forest. You can hide this mesh from the render, once the plants are created.
