Material doesnt show (3ds Max Arnold Render GPU vs CPU)
« on: October 17, 2022, 08:29:48 AM »
Good Day,

why does the lawn doesn't render properly in GPU?, if I use CPU I can see the lawn...
is there something I'm supposed to do differently to the lawn when I use GPU?
The license is on the server. I am using 3ds Max and Arnold Render.

Any help is much appreciated.

Greetings from Germany, Angela. :)

Hi Angela ,

First, let me apologize for the late reply. I'm afraid, that the Forest Colour map isn't supported by Arnold GPU (it’s being “ignored”). Unfortunately, there’s no “easy workaround” and if you need to use the GPU and this preset, to fix it, you should link the used textures directly to the corresponding material slot (I’m attaching screenshots).

Best regards,

Thanks for your swift reply. Please double-check, that you aren't modifying the "auto-material" - because Forest keeps references to its source materials. Instead, you should modify the material linked to that item - Custom Object(s) - Material. Any changes made this way, will be projected safely to the Forest's "auto-material". That should do the trick.

Yes!! you're right Michal, that worked, thank you! :D
But it would be great if i didn't have to do the extra work to render with GPU...
we bought this software cause it looked quick to use with great results...
Anyways, thanks a lot!
