Network Rendering Problem Colours
« on: February 14, 2019, 01:09:26 PM »
Guys,
I'm network rendering to six machines all with forest pack pro 6.15 installed, I'm get different colours for the forest pack pro grass between frames, any ideas?

It's not a machine problem as it renders correctly sometimes on the same machine as the bad render.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi,

Have You tried exporting the distributed geometry into instances by using the Forest Tools feature ?
Is result the same- same pc sometimes render with correct material sometimes not?

You can find it under Utilities - More ... - Forest Tools. For more information about it, please feel free to check our on-line reference guide.

Thanks for the quick reply but alas that doesn't work, that seems to break the objects up into lots of individual poly objects ballooning the scene size, and also quite a few of them, all individuals. They are set to match the forest item display parameters which as you can see in my attached image thins them out quite a lot!!

Maybe I need to do an uninstall / reinstall and put them all to the shared directory option?

Also I am now getting the vertical wall presets not rendering, also doing this randomly, it's rendering the vines but no ferns, I'm guessing re-installs needed. No point wasting more time.

I'll try using the shared directory structure this time.

I've rendered many times before with forest pack with none of these issues.

Thanks again.

Got it kind of sorted although it's not a solution long term, I had to re-path all forest pack maps to a shared network drive. Something must be confusing FP under the default library settings. As I said before this has never been an issue.

Essentially for now it means applying the presets such as the grasses and should I want to network render particularly an animation I have to repath all the maps to the network drive.

Also when installing forest pack and using the shared network drive why does it only download the zip files which you have to uncompress? This seems broken to me. Also shouldn't it repath all the presets in the library to the shared path?

Anyways it's still a great plugin  :)

Repathing is not necessary. Please read this topic.
