Title: Nested Forest objects dont seem to work with edge mode
Post by: GF1991 on May 17, 2021, 07:28:39 PM
Hello guys,

so i ve got the scene with absolutelly massive grass areas which i need to populate so i am using pre-scattered patches and nest them inside anothe Forest object, as advised.

Everything works as expected except for the fact that the edge mode doestn work as its supposed to.  Its meant to chop off the scatter where the surface ends but instead it making balck ghost artefacts as you can see on the attached render alongside the curbs.

This is very early scene of course but makes me wonder if the edge mode is working properly with nested obejcts.
I will try a spline to chop it off in the next test.

Thanks for any pointers, looking at this issue,

Martin

Hi Martin,
Nested FP should work.
Try increasing max transp. levels. If You still need help, please attach or send (https://forum.itoosoft.com/faq/how-to-send-a-file-to-itoo-software/) us a minimal scene and we will try to help.

Hello Rokas,
raising max transp levels helped.
Strange that it only creates mess outside the surface edge though. Why is that please?

Edge mode is achieved by applying 0 opacity on the protruding elements. If they overlap a lot- renderer might render some artifacts.
Inside the area there are no tricks, so this mess can only happen outside the area.

Easy fix though.
