Network render max2012 vray 2.30.01 and forest 3.9.6
« on: March 08, 2013, 02:32:35 PM »
Hi all,
I have some kind of a similar issue
Forest 3.9.6 - 3dmax 2012 vray 2.30.01

doing renders on render-farm of the other company, so don't have exact settings&configuration of that

in some frames of animation I have missing forest objects - sometimes 1 forest missing, sometimes 2, the rest fine
lets say frame 15 have missing trees, frame 24, frame 52 - always random...
see those frames with red mark

Hi, i have created a new thread because this seems a different problem.

Is it a private or commercial render farm ?
If commercial, are they included in our certified render farm list ?

In any case, we should need more information about their configuration.

its private one, will try to get its configuration.

btw
trying rerender frames on my PC - trees disappear the same manner (((
I see trees in viewport but rendered frames doesn't show trees
this happens to the same one forest object only
all other forests doing fine

Ok, if the problem is specific to a certain Forest object, and fails also locally we should check it.

Please, try to reproduce the problem in a stripped scene and send us the files.

finally localized the problem
not easy to collect all objects causing it

now I cannot render any sequence - each time 1st frame is ok, and all the rest frames trees disappear

you can download scene from dropbox
pls let me know if you need textures as well (deleted those as archive comes big)

I found two other forest objects which influence this one with street trees
in stripped scene they exist but don't show up (don't know why) - but still they affect

Thanks for the scene.

It is a problem of the VRay proxy: for some reason, it doesnt render after the first frame. You can reproducing the problem moving the proxy within the camera's view and rendering it together Forest. Both dissapear simultaneously.

By the way: it is not necessary to use proxies with Forest. You can use the mesh or a xref directly, all objects are converted internally to native instances of VRay.

the problem appeared couple of days ago
before I was rendering 2500 frames with this scene and everything was fine, those trees were not changed

May be the proxy file was corrupt or changed in some way, i don't know.

I suggest you assign the mesh object directly to Forest, that should solve the problem. Also will be easier to send the scene for rendering (less external objects). Alternatively, if you want not to change the scene, you would regenerate the proxy file.

I' sorry, you are right. It fails also replacing the proxy.

Well, i think we have found the problem: you use couple of Forest objects to create the tiles of the parking zones (#Forest001 - parkingways and #Forest - parkingways stage1b), and boths objects are used as excluding areas for the trees. Futhermore, the parking objects changes dinamically with the camera clipping.

This workflow is not efficient, and also can generate strange results (as happens here), because there are multiple dependences between objects that change when camera moves.

To fix it, use the parking splines (@Line-parkingways and @Shape - stage1b parkingways) as excluding areas for the trees. This is much more simple and faster.
