global scale for each element
« on: September 06, 2013, 09:34:03 AM »
Hi,
I'm just wondering if its possible to set the scale for each geometry element individually
OR
add possibility to set individual transform parameters

As example, I'm using frest grass preset, then add some leaves, then add some daisies, clovers, and so on...
I would like to make the leaves smaller, and daisy also looks kind of big.
Is the any solution?

Now I need to extract mesh from presets geometry, edit, then add again to forest object.

Also I found 'Use Object Dimensions' tick box, if I uncheck it then width and height fields become active
http://clip2net.com/s/5HtDVw
by default they are set to 2m and 3m - how to use that?
its just 2d dimensions, but we need 3d
(hope you understand what I mean)

Thanks

Yes, you can use Width/Height fields to adjust the size. These parameters was introduced mainly for billboards, but work fine with 3D objects:  X/Y is Width and Z is Height. The aspect ratio between X/Y and Z must be adjusted visually.

I unhid and unfroze the forest templates layer, then copy one daisy and scale it
then I get error when trying to use it as new element and 3dmax crashes, and didn't save the scene

any workaround to copy presets instances?

Yes, i can confirm the problem. We must debug it.

Workaround: try moving out the cloned daisy from the templates layer, before assigning it to Forest.

I moved a copy to a new layer
once I add it to forest elements list - all other instances became again frozen and hidden
but it worked! now I can customize objects from presets
Thanks a lot Carlos!
